In the programme, the “Captains will complete around 15 green habit tasks in the “Green Charter, which cover four aspects, including “personal,” “family,” “indoor,” and “outdoor.”  This exercise is to help develop their green lifestyles through practicing green habits on a regular basis.

Moreover, the “Captains” will have the opportunity to fundraise and make donations to support Hong Kong Red Cross’s humanitarian services, by sharing the importance of acting for humanity with families and friends and taking actions to alleviate the impact of climate change.

In September, the “Captains” will be invited to join the “Greentival” Green Market. Featuring interactive game booths, workshops, and experiential activities, participants will learn about ways to build their sustainable habits, with a focus of the basic green concept of 6R: “Reduce,” “Reuse,” “Recycle,” “Replace,” “Repair,” and “Rethink.”

Use of Funds Raised

The registration fees and donations will be used to support various humanitarian services provided by Hong Kong Red Cross, includes disaster relief and preparedness, youth development, humanitarian education, and volunteer development etc.

About Green Transformation Programme

"Green Transformation" is part of the "Green Captain" summer programme, aims to arouse participants' awareness of environmental protection by encouraging them to unleash their creativity to recycle and re-create a new piece of garment. Participants are required to transform at least one piece of old garment (e.g., personal old clothes, recycled garments etc.) into a new cloth, use other eco-friendly materials. Event details are as follows:

  • Participants in the "Green Transformation" garment or clothing, they can also incorporate additional clothing items such as hats, handbags, backpacks, tops, bottoms, or jumpsuits.
  • The judging criteria based solely on the environmentally friendly modified garments and accessories worn by the participants. Some modifications may use eco-friendly materials such as recycled paper boxes or leaves or other eco-friendly elements.
  • The "Green Transformation" should prioritize environmental sustainability, and there are no limitations on the theme of the modifications.
  • Participants can transform their clothing/fabric into fashionable garments for daily wear.
  • In addition to modified clothing, the matching clothing and accessories should also adhere to the principles of environmental sustainability (e.g., avoiding purchasing new items to match with the competition clothing, which violates the intention of eco-friendly).
  • Submit the images of used garment "Before" and "After" the transformation  (electronic files must be submitted, with submission details to be announced by the HKRC).
  • The HKRC reserves the right to make the final decision.
  • Parents can choose to accompany their children on stage for the fashion show, with a maximum of one accompanying parent.
